Swedish Empire mahogany mirror with hand carved gilded decoration. The centre piece depicting the Roman god Mercury. The quality of the carving is outstanding. This is a rare piece made by eminent Gothenburg mirror maker PEHR GUSTAV BYLANDER . There is an almost exact mirror on display in the Gothenburg Museum Sweden.

Condition report

The mirror is in very good original condition retaining the original gilding. There is some age related patination commensurate with the age of the piece. The glass is a later replacement.
